What you translate stays on your Mac.
Selarik contacts mandorkode.com only to check for and download updates. Those requests include your Selarik version and, like any web request, your IP address and your Mac’s preferred languages. Nothing you type, copy or save is sent.
Translation
Translations are processed on-device using Apple Translation.
The first time you use a language pair, macOS may download a language model from Apple. macOS manages that download, not Selarik.
Selected text
When you choose Translate with Selarik or Translate and Replace with Selarik, the app you’re in sends Selarik the text you selected. If you turn on “Use the selected text with the shortcut”, Selarik instead copies the selection when you press the shortcut. To replace, it briefly puts the translation on your clipboard and pastes it. Each time, it then puts your clipboard back. Either way, the text is translated on your Mac and isn’t sent anywhere. Selarik doesn’t capture password fields in apps that use standard ones.
Updates
Selarik checks for updates at most once a day while it’s open, and when you choose Check for Updates… yourself. Release notes load only when an update exists, and an update downloads only when you choose to install it.
To stop automatic checks, turn off Check for updates automatically in Settings › General. Selarik then checks only when you ask.
Update requests go to updates.mandorkode.com, which Cloudflare hosts. Cloudflare sees your IP address, the time of the request, your Selarik version and your Mac’s preferred languages.
Update requests never include:
- an account or a device identifier
- a system profile
- your language pairs
- your clipboard or translated text
- saved translations
- diagnostics
Stored on your Mac
Saved translations, favorite pairs, your settings and update state stay on your Mac.
Diagnostics and bug reports
Copy Diagnostics… and Report a Bug… in Settings › About show you a preview first. It holds limited details: the app and macOS versions, whether a shortcut is set, and up to 20 recent results from this launch, such as the language codes used and whether each translation worked. It contains none of your text.
Nothing is sent automatically. You decide whether to paste the preview into an email you send yourself.
Selarik has no telemetry, crash reporting or analytics.
If you contact support or request beta access, we receive what you send and use it to reply to you.
This website
mandorkode.com has no analytics and sets no cookies. If you switch between light and dark, your browser remembers that choice on your device.
Cloudflare hosts the site and processes your IP address to deliver its pages.
